Cryotherapy for Post-Operative Recovery | Case Study

I noticed my shoulder had gone back to pretty much normal size and the scar had retracted back flat to a fine line from the bulging red lumps it was pre cryo. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!!! I kept showing my husband saying look at this!!

Our client, Sharon, had major of shoulder rotator cuff surgery and experienced a variety of post-operative complications. Sharon has been using Whole Body Cryotherapy to speed her recovery – specifically benefitting from WBC’s ability to rapidly reduce swelling, calm inflammation and encourage faster healing.

Cryotherapy Assisted Recovery from Rotator Cuff Surgery

Can you please describe the symptoms or condition you were feeling that led you to try Whole Body Cryotherapy? How were they impacting you?

I had just had serious open shoulder Rotator Cuff Surgery and a post-op reaction to the tape and adhesives used.

My skin and shoulder was incredibly inflamed with swelling that looked like I had a shoulder pad on under clothes. Post-2 weeks Emma saw my scar during a session of physio and recommended me to give the Cryo Pod a go. So I did with zero expectation for doing so and wasn’t expecting a particular outcome.

Why did you think Cryotherapy Could Help?

On recommendation of Emma (physio). However, I have heard of it and was aware if it’s beneficial outcomes for inflammation in the body.

How did you find the initial experience?

It was quick and super easy. And was way easier to tolerate then I thought I would manage!

Were there any changes to my symptoms? Yes massive and it took me by surprise that evening. I noticed my shoulder had gone back to pretty much normal size and the scar had retracted back flat to a fine line from the bulging red lumps it was pre cryo. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!!! I kept showing my husband saying look at this!!

🤣

Have you developed a routine which works for you?

I’m doing 2 sessions a week post op for 10 sessions.

What are the outcomes you’ve seen as part of your routine?

I’ve had three sessions and I’m super impressed. Just trusting the process and seeing how it goes but my initial opinion is very positive. If it had that physical impact of change to my body visually can you imagine what it’s doing to inside!!!

Not just for your initial goals but any other effects? I haven’t noticed anything else yet as I have a fairly healthy lifestyle. I am however interested to see the post op recovery rate on my rotator cuff as I have been through some very difficult surgeries and it will be great to see if it has a further impact to improve recovery. So watch this space.
