Benefits of Whole Body Cryotherapy

The latest research on these benefits make cryotherapy an easily accessible option for those looking to benefit from the power of the cold without getting soaking wet

Improved Muscle Recovery

Cryotherapy can aid in faster muscle recovery after intense workouts or sports activities by reducing muscle soreness and promoting tissue repair.

Welcome to The Cryo Hub

Harness the Power of the Cold

The Cryo Hub can be found within The Wellness Hub by Emma James – an award winning physiotherapy and wellness centre in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire.

With trained physiotherapists and clinicians on site, we aim to make sure every Cryotherapy experience is tailored to achieving your goals, whether that be elevating your energy levels and mood though to chronic pain management.

“I was surprised at how easy it was - nothing like the freezing cold of going into an ice bath. And the feeling you get afterwards... just WOW!"

The Cryo Hub has invested in a state-of-the-art Whole Body Cryochamber offering the ability to move, stretch or simply meditate while the cold does its work. You’re not locked in or secured and can simply walk out of the chamber at any point.

In just 3-5 minutes the dry cold of the chamber cools the body down without the shock of cold water immersion, making the myriad benefits of cold exposure easy to access.

We like to call it ‘Wim Hof without getting wet’

Is Cryotherapy Safe?

For most people Cryotherapy is an exhilarating experience but as with any therapy, people with certain conditions (such as high blood pressure) should take medical advice first.

Does Cryotherapy Hurt?

The cold can induce some discomfort but isn't painful - with sensitive areas like the head and hands protected with protective gloves and hats. To access the benefits of cryotherapy the body must be put under some stress and we find that the 'dry' cold of the WBC chamber is the most pleasant and accessible way to do this - being far more gentle than the shock of an ice bath and much much easier to get out from!

Will I be Alone? Will I be locked in?

No. Once you've been assessed by an operator you'll be left to change in private. The operator will then take your skin temperature before admitting you to the chamber. They remain outside, playing your choice of music and showing how long you have left of the session, ensuring you are supported the entire time. You can clearly see out of the chamber and you can easily leave at any point should you wish by simply walking out. You are NEVER locked in or restrained.

Does it Really Do What It Says?

There is an ever increasing body of peer-reviewed research highlighting the benefits of cold therapies. We've compiled our own research and links to credible sources on our Cryo Blog for you to see for yourself.

Do I Need Special Equipment?

We can provide comfortable shorts and sports tops or you can feel free to bring your own. All you'll need is the sort of clothes you'd wear to the beach so your skin will be exposed. Protective gloves, masks, headbands and hats are provided or again, you're welcome to bring your own.
